Alfred J. Shaw

Shaw, Alfred J. of Hingham, died November 18, 2013. He was 85.

Al was born and raised in Waltham, graduating from Waltham High School. He has lived in Waltham MA, then Hopewell Twp, New Jersey, followed by Hingham since 1960. Al worked as the Assistant to the Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds, for the Hingham school department for many years, retiring in 1996. His passion was fishing. He was an avid surf fisherman and was one of the founding member of the Massachusetts Beach Buggy Association, which oversees and supports the conservation of beaches and marine environment. He will be remembered as a kind and polite man who was always willing to lend a hand to those in need. 

Beloved husband of 64 years to Audrey (Parsons) Shaw of Hingham. Devoted father of Sgt Glenn Shaw (ret), of the Hingham Police Dept, and Bradley Shaw and his wife Judith of Marshfield. Loving brother of Donald Shaw of Burlington and sister,the late Anne Graber. Cherished “Papa” of Natalie, Kathleen, Kristen and great-grandson Daniel. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 10 AM – 12 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. Funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 12 PM. Burial in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham.
