Gallivan, John  E. of Hingham, died July 17, 2014.

John’s life revolved around his loving family.  He treasured the time with his wife, children and grandchildren.  An avid reader he was a fan of Clancy and Patterson novels.  He was a graduate of Archbishop Williams High School and Stonehill College.  He was most proud of the restaurant, “The Dory”, in Nantucket where he worked for ten years making it a success.  John had a love and passion for life, a wonderful sense of humor and was always smiling. 

Beloved husband of Ellen “Jacquie” Gallivan of Hingham.  Loving father of Johanna Levy and her husband David of Norton, Gay Jacques and her husband Leo of Norton, and Amy Nutt of Easton. Stepfather of Maureen Hopkins of NY, Michael Wright of Halifax, Tracey Read of Quincy, Daniel Wright of Pembroke and Wendy Flynn of CT.  Brother of Mary Jane Neagle and Dorothy Norman and her husband Ralph; all of Weymouth.  Also survived by 15 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. 

Services were private and arrangements were completed by Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, Hingham.
