John W. Ritchie

Ritchie, John W. of Quincy, formerly of Saint Patrick’s Parish in Roxbury, died peacefully on November 16, 2014.

He was 89. John was a bus driver for 35 years for the MBTA until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time at the beach and the ocean but the most important part of his life was his family. They were everything to him and just adored each and every one of them. John was a devout catholic and a very religious man. He was a member for many years at the choir in Saint John’s Church in Quincy as well as Saint Patrick’s Church in Roxbury years ago. John was a proud decorated World War II veteran serving in the United States Navy. He will be sorely missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. He brought a smile and a sense of ease to all of those that had the pleasure of meeting him.

Beloved husband of 65 years to Phyllis M. (Noviello) Ritchie. Loving father of John Ritchie and his wife, Denise, of Boxford, Eileen Sechovicz and her husband, Jerry, of Weymouth, Frederick Ritchie and his partner, Joseph Burke, Jr., of Quincy, Theresa Katsilieris and her husband, Nick, of Hingham, William Ritchie and his wife, Paula, of Abington, Mary  Ritchie, Det Lt. MSP and her wife, Kathy Bush, of Framingham, and Joseph Ritchie and his wife, Christine, of Marshfield. Brother of Eugene Ritchie of Milton and Del Ray Beach, Florida and the late Francis Ritchie. Son of the late Mary and William Ritchie. Proud Papa to his 11 grandchildren and Grand Papa to his 6 great grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital)  Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 8:45 AM on Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Joseph’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to John Adams Health Care Activities Dept, 211 Franklin Street, Quincy, MA 02169 or to the charity of one’s choice.
