Joseph A. Brown

Brown, Joseph A. of Hingham, age 88, died April 15, 2014, after a period of declining health, Joseph joined his siblings in Heaven. 

Beloved husband of Mary T. Brown (Corbett) for 43 years. Joe was born in Hyde Park and was the son of John H. Brown and Ellen (Dolan) Brown.  He graduated from Hyde Park High School in 1943 and served in the United States Navy following graduation.  He then had a long and distinguished career as a Court Reporter for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

He is pre-deceased by his siblings Mrs. Helen DeFlurin of Dedham, Mr. John J. Brown of Connecticut, Mrs. Mary DeGagne of Arizona, and Mrs. Frances Bischoff of Canton. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary (Mame), brother-in-law Karl Bischoff of Canton and many nieces and nephews, both in the United States and Ireland.

An avid golfer and sports fan, Joe enjoyed retirement with his wife, Mary.  They liked to travel to Ireland and had a wide circle of friends who enriched their lives and looked out for them in later years, especially the neighbors on Longmeadow Road.  He enjoyed volunteering at South Shore Hospital and at the Church of the Resurrection in Hingham.  Joe was known for his quick wit and gentle spirit and will be sorely missed by all those who had the pleasure to know him.  The family is grateful for the compassionate care provided by Queen Anne Nursing Home in Hingham and South Shore Hospital. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Saturday prior to the Funeral Blessing in Church of the Resurrection, 1057 Main St., Hingham at 10 AM.  Burial in Hingham Cemetery, Hingham.
