Lloyd E. Nash

Nash, Lloyd E. Jr. (‘Buddy’) of East Weymouth died April 21, 2014 peacefully in his sleep at his home with his family. 

Beloved son of the late Lloyd & Lillian (Marks) Nash.

Loving uncle to Karen Lemont and her husband Kevin, Susan Hailey, Frank Hailey, Jr and his wife Laura, Joyce Nash, Robert Nash, Jr. and his wife Christine, Lori Heinstrom and her husband Galen, Robin Mateiro, James Nash and his wife Catherine.  Bud is also survived by many great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews.  Also survived by sister-in-law Jessie Nash of Weymouth and her late husband Robert Nash, Sr. of Weymouth. Brother to the late Claire Hailey and husband Frank of San Diego California.

Bud served proudly as Petty Officer 1st Class in the U.S Navy.  During WWII, he was in the Battle of Normandy on LST 157. He served his country for 21 years, plus reserves, until he retired in 1973.  During his time in the military, he served the church, organizing the Knights of Columbus in Okinawa, was Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus in Okinawa from 1969-1971, was in the Holy Name Society, served as usher, supported the CYO, held office in the Okinawa Council of Catholic Men, just to name a few things.  He has many commendations in his service record for outstanding attitude & volunteerism ‘above and beyond the call of duty.’ 

After retiring from the military, Bud became Custodian of the Monsignor Edmond Hackett Hall at Immaculate Conception Church in East Weymouth. He volunteered at the Weymouth Food Pantry for 15 years and Bingo at Immaculate for many, many years. 

He actively served his church community from 1973 to 2013.  His dedication to his family, church and community was second to none.  Bud was an avid Red Sox fan and season ticket holder. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours at McDonald Keohane Funeral Home in South Weymouth on Thursday April 24th from 3-7 PM.  Relatives and friends will gather at the funeral home at 9:30 am on Friday April 25th prior to the Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, East Weymouth at 10:30 AM.   Burial will follow in Woodside Cemetery, Cohasset.
