Margaret Ann Norton

Margaret Ann Norton (O’Neil) 90, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014 at her home surrounded by family.

She was born July 13,1924 in Boston to the late James and Margaret O’Neil. She was a long time resident of MA then moved to Punta Gorda, FL in 1978. She was known to her family and friends as “Mom”, “Peg”, “Peggy”, or “Margie”. In 1947 she graduated from Saint Elizabeth Nursing School in Brighton. She later served as a Lieutenant in United States Air Force during the Korean War. While stationed in San Antonio, TX, she met and married the late Dr. Austin T. Norton. She is survived by her brother Father James W. O’Neil SJ, sister Marie T. O’Neil of Weymouth, and  9 children, Daughter Kathleen (Robert) Quinn of Middleboro, daughter Bernadette Norton of Lee, NH, daughter Margaret (Jerry) Kimball of Newfields, NH, son Austin (Lisa) Norton of Newport News, VA, son Michael (Nancy) Norton of Middleboro, son John (Patricia) Norton of Sandown, NH, daughter Mary (William) Bishop of Port Charlotte, FL, daughter Noreen Schott of Bat Cave, NC, and son James (Eileen) Norton of Port Charlotte, FL. She is also survived by 29 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Peg spent many summers at Long Pond in Plymouth where family and friends were always welcomed. She was preceded in death by her sister Rita McGonnigal and sons Timothy, Thomas and Peter.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, 55 Commercial St., Weymouth on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014 at 9:30 am. Burial in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.
