Mary “Barbara” Carnes

CARNES, Mary “Barbara” (Devane) of Hingham, a resident of the Lincoln School Apartments, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2013, she was 90.

Barbara was a telephone operator for New England Telephone for 29 years retiring in 1987.  She spent winters from 1987 thru 2002 in Kissimmee, Florida, where she owned a mobile home and spent many hours at Disney World. She also enjoyed spending time in Wolfeboro, NH.

She was the beloved wife of the late Walter F. Carnes, Sr. Devoted mother of Marylou Lundin and her husband Christopher of Florida, Walter F. Carnes, Jr and his wife Mary of Hingham and Anne Flanders and her boyfriend Rene Paquette of Hingham. Barbara is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Loving sister of Leonard Devane of Waltham and Dorothy Struble of Hanover and the late Geraldine Devane, Margaret Gadbois and Richard & Robert Devane.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8pm in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald Street, Hingham. A Celebration of Life service will be held in the funeral home on Friday morning at 9AM prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Church, Hingham at 10am. Burial in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham.
