Joyce, Mary P. “ Maire” of Braintree, formerly of Quincy, originally from Pouleywerrin, Connemara, Ireland,  died  unexpectedtly on October 25, 2014.

The beloved daughter of the late Coleman & Nora (Folan) Joyce. Loving sister of Nora Podesta and her husband Ralph of CA, Sarah Dempsey and her late husband Danny, John Joyce and his wife Nora and Bridget Cloonan and her husband Martin all of Quincy. She was pre-deceased by her brothers Coleman Joyce survived by his wife Mary of Milton and Michael Joyce survived by his wife Mairin of Ireland. Maire is also survived by her many nieces and nephews whom she cherished.

Maire attended Munster Institute in County Cork. She came over from Ireland in the 1960’s and settled in California. There she worked as a dietician for several years before moving to Quincy. She worked as a sales associate for Macy’s for many years. Maire was a devout Catholic. She loved to read,  knit and crochet. She was a talented embroider and loved floral arrangement. One of her passions in life was traveling, she drove cross crountry in the U.S.and enjoyed her many trips to Ireland, Italy, Germany, France and Australia. She also loved to travel to New Hampshire and Maine, where her family had second homes. There she enjoyed gardening and the wildlife that reminded her of her beloved Ireland. The most important aspect for her life was her family. She cherished all of them and in return they adored her. They were all that was truly important to her. Her family and her faith were the cornerstone of her life.  Maire will be remembered for her great sense of humor and the joy she brought into the lives of everyone she knew. She will be sadly missed by all those who were blessed to have known her.  

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8pm  in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 9:15am prior to the Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 227 Sea Street, Quincy on Friday at 10am. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
