Paul G. Ferola, Sr.

Ferola, Paul G., Sr., Retired U.S. Army Special Forces and Retired Boston Police Officer, of Hull and formerly of Somerville, passed in his home surrounded by his family on July 24, 2014.

He was the husband of the late Euanna “Sis” Ferola. Beloved father of Paul G. Ferola, Jr. and Suzanne of Arlington, Louis F. Ferola, Sr. and Joy of Hooksett, NH and Annmarie F. Bryant and Rex of Sandwich. He was the former husband of Phyllis Ferola of East Boston. Paul was the brother of the late Virginia Long, John Ferola and Francis Ferola. He was also stepfather to James D. Hislop of Hanover, F. Joseph Hislop and his wife Diane of Pembroke, and Karen Bowen of Kingston. Paul is also lovingly survived by 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Paul proudly served in the U.S. Army in Special Forces (1950-1970). During his service his fought in both the Korean and Vietnam wars and was a highly decorated solider. Following his military service, he joined the Boston Police Department where he served for 27 years. He was a proud member of the VFW, Purple Heart Association, Green Beret Association, Boston Police Patrolmen’s Association and the Emerald Society. Paul truly loved his family and will be missed by all of those who had the honor to know him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald Street (Off Central Street), HINGHAM. A celebration of life service will be held at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. prior to the funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann’s in Hull.   Burial will follow at the Hull Village Cemetery.
