Paul G. McCloskey

McCloskey, Paul G. of Houghs Neck and Marathon, FL, died July 19, 2014 at the home he grew up in, surrounded by his loving family. 

Paul found enjoyment in his life by spending time with his family and friends.  The ocean also gave him great comfort and joy, whether he was boating, fishing, clamming, or just enjoying the scent of the salty air.  Paul served in the United States Navy followed by many years in the Navy Reserves.  He worked as an elevator mechanic for 37 years, retiring in 1998, and he was a proud member of IUEC Local 4.  He was fortunate to spend the past 15 winters in Marathon, FL, where he met many dear friends.  Paul was a lifelong member of the Quincy Yacht Club, American Legion, and the Lodge of Elks.  He will be remembered for his tremendous work ethic, his generous nature, and his incredible zest for life. 

Beloved husband of the late Claire (Griffin) McCloskey.  Loving father of Christine Batson and her husband Wayne, and Julie Campbell and her husband Scott, all of Houghs Neck.  “Popsie” to Liam, Griffin, Caroline, and Olivia.  Cherished brother of Charles “Bud” McCloskey and his wife Cynthia of Weymouth, Elizabeth “Nancy” Duca of Weymouth, Mary Burdin of Methuen, and the late Robert McCloskey and Sheila Kellogg.  Dear companion of Alberta Baratelli of Houghs Neck.  Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends, both here and in Marathon, FL. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 10:45 AM on Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass in Holy Trinity Parish at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, Quincy at 11:30 AM.  Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne at 1:45 PM.
