Paul R. Melvin

MELVIN, Paul R. Of Rockland, formerly of So. Weymouth, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family November 24, 2014 at the age of 71.

Devoted husband of Virginia “Gini” A. (Ward) Melvin,  and beloved father to sons Paul II and his fiancée Kimberly Rader of Dorchester, Michael of So. Weymouth and daughter Jennifer and her partner Sean Ready of Rockland. Cherished grandfather & “Papa” to his “Rosebud” Jacquelyn and his other “princesses” Alyson, Ashlyn, Sydney and Avery. Dear son to the late Mary (Morrissey) Melvin and Jack Walsh, and brother to the late Regina Donovan, David Melvin, Jr., John Melvin, and James Melvin. Also survived by loving siblings Gloria Whalen, Thomas Melvin, and Mary Hilliard as well as many nieces and nephews.

Originally from Dorchester, Mr. Melvin was a paratrooper and proudly served the US Army’s 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam era. He was a selfless, devout and loyal family man who enjoyed bowling, billiards and the quiet company of those dearest to him.

Funeral from the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, 809 Main St. (Rte 18), SOUTH WEYMOUTH Monday at 10 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Francis Xavier Parish Church, 234 Pleasant St., So. Weymouth at 11AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday 2-6 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Mt. Benedict Cemetery, West Roxbury.
