Richard B. O’Brien

O’Brien, Richard  B. of Quincy, died July 25, 2014.

Beloved husband of Rita M. (Melchione) O’Brien of Quincy.  Loving father of Kevin O’Brien of Brockton, Kenneth O’Brien of Abington, Kathleen Martinelli of Rockland, Karen Alfano of Marshfield, Richard  O’Brien of Pembroke Susan McLean of Braintree and John O’Brien of Malden.  Brother of the late Evelyn Giroux and Robert O’Brien.  Cherished grandfather of 11 grandchildren.

Richard was born in Medford and grew up and was educated in Somerville.  He was the owner of Commonwealth Typewriter Service in Boston for 35 years before retiring in 1985.  He enjoyed Nantasket Beach, hikes in the Blue Hills, and was a talented painter.  Richard proudly served  in the United States Army during the Korean war.  He will be missed by his family and friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15am Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. John’s Church, Quincy at 10am. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
