Salvatore “Sal” LaRosa

LaRosa, Salvatore “Sal” of Boston, died April 18, 2014 at the age of 96.

Sal was a Two-Star Major General in the U.S. Army and served in the Mass State Guard Reserve.  He did his service in Italy, married a War Bride, served as a military attorney for the Adjutant Generals office and was a member of AMGOT in Avellino, Italy and Innsbruck, Austria.  Subsequently he earned a law degree from Northeastern University, belonged to the First Corps of Cadets and the Sons of Italy in Boston.  He loved his country and was a very proud WWII veteran.  His passions were, foremost taking care of his family and world politics.  He was an exceptional cook and loved his cats.  He will be sadly missed by all.

Predeceased by his wife Cerere (Rossi) LaRosa.  Beloved father of Benedict D. LaRosa of Texas, Nella LaRosa-Waters of Cambridge and Rita LaRosa Loud and her husband Paul of Dorchester.  Devoted Grandfather of Fiona LaRosa-Waters, Christian Waters, Adrian Snead and Marcus LaRosa.  Caring brother of the late Santa Scire.  Loving uncle of Carl Scire and his wife Lori and Robert Scire.  Grand Uncle of Emily Scire.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews in Italy. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9 AM on Tuesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Mark’s, Dorchester, at 10 AM. Burial on Wednesday at 2:30 in MA National Cemetery, Bourne.
