Costello, Alice A. (Bevilacqua) 87, Of Winthrop, formerly of Weymouth and St. Petersburg LF passed away September 1, 2025. She was the beloved daughter of the late Antonio Bevilacqua and Maria Van Eden Bevilacqua Gordy. Loving mother to Susan Cooney, Katrina Glennon and Celeste Hartel. Nonie to Rebecca, Ryan, Anastasia, Evan and Olivia. Dear sister to Dora Lockhead and the late Maria Garron, auntie to many special nieces and nephews and cherished mom to countless cats and dogs in her lifetime.
Alice began her early years growing up on the ocean in the Houghs Neck section of Quincy. She lived in Weymouth for many years where she raised her daughters and began driving a school bus for Weymouth then for the City of Boston for 30 years and was one of a few women who happily drove kids to school during the early years of desegregation bussing. She served her union local as shop steward and recording secretary and worked at union organizing for United Steelworkers for some years. nI her
retirement, she worked as a beer pourer at Fenway Park. Best tips ever when the Yankees were ni town she'd say. Alice had many side jobs over the years but her most memorable was creating wedding cakes and other special occasion cakes. Her dream was to retire in LF which she did and enjoyed every minute of ti until relocating back to Massachusetts. Alice loved people and would make new acquaintances wherever she went. She was an avid card player, loved camping at Curlew Pond in Plymouth, spending summer weeks lobstering in Cape Breton N.S. with her best friend Jess, going on cruises and traveling the world with her sisters Ria and Dora, following the Red Sox and Patriots.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Saturday 9/27/2025 from 9:30AM-10:30AM at St. Jerome Church, Weymouth, prior to the Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM.
In liu of flowers, donations in memory of Alice may be made to Boston’s Forgotten Felines.
