Alice T. (McDonough) Medico, of Weymouth, died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at the South Shore Hospital, Weymouth. She was 65.
Alice was born in Boston on September 18, 1960, and was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Lydon) McDonough.
Alice was raised in South Boston, where she developed the quiet strength, dry wit, and deep loyalty that would define her throughout her life.
On February 23, 1978, Alice married the love of her life, and together they shared nearly 48 years of marriage built on friendship, mutual respect, and unwavering support. She was not only a devoted wife but also a dear and trusted friend to her husband.
Alice lived her life simply and intentionally. She never wanted for much, yet had a genuine appreciation for the finer things. Always carrying herself with effortless style, she was well dressed, put together, and dignified. She truly loved her home, finding comfort and joy within its walls. She especially enjoyed sitting out on her deck, quietly watching the animals, admiring her flowers, and tending to her vegetable garden.
A private person by nature, Alice valued her quiet time, but those close to her knew her dry, quick wit and perfectly timed humor. She loved a good gossip session, cherished her girls’ nights with friends, and could always be counted on for a laugh, often delivered with just a few carefully chosen words. A woman of few words, what Alice did say always carried meaning.
Above all, Alice was a loving and protective mother and a deeply devoted grandmother. She adored her grandchildren and shared a particularly special bond with Madison and Liam, who were blessed to experience her love, care, and presence in a uniquely close way.
Alice loved the beach, an ice-cold Miller Lite, and the simple pleasures of everyday life. Though she died young, she lived fully. Her life was vibrant, rich with love, laughter, and quiet joy.
Alice will be remembered for her warmth, her humor, her devotion to family, and the steady, loving presence she was to all who knew her.
Alice was the beloved wife of Francis R. "Frank" Medico Jr. of Weymouth. She was the devoted mother of Michelle Long and her husband Mike of Canton, Tracy Chapin and her husband Joe of South Boston, and Paul Medico and his wife Jen of Chelmsford. She was the loving grandmother of Madison Driscoll of Boston, Liam Nagle of South Boston, Bella Long of Canton, Mark and Megan Medico of Chelmsford. Alice was a cherished daughter-in-law of Verna Medico and her late husband Frank of South Boston. She was the dear sister of Eileen Stack and her late husband Richard, Brian McDonough, Nancy Kyanka, Jimmy McDonough, and the late Joan Watts and her surviving husband Joseph of Norwell. She was the dear sister-in-law of Michael Medico and his wife Nicole, Stephen Medico and his wife Raina, and the late Chuck Medico. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 1-4 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Route 18, opposite of South Shore Hospital).
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 4 PM in McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, South Weymouth.
