‘Ann M. "Anna" (Greene) Griffin of Braintree, originally from South Boston, formerly of Quincy and Dorchester, died on December 6th, 2025. The beloved wife of the late Thomas J. Griffin. Daughter of the late Peter and Mary A. (McDonough) Greene. Survived by her loving children Mary-Kate McDonough (Mark) of Braintree and Thomas Griffin (Cathy) of Boston. Devoted Mamie to grandchildren Conor (Morgan) McDonough of Braintree, Jack McDonough of Braintree, Colleen and Bridget Griffin of Boston, and great grandchildren Chase and Sloane McDonough of Braintree. Loving sister of the late Catty Lydon, John Greene, Mary Davis and Margaret Wise. Anna is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews.
‘Mamie’, as she was known to her grandchildren, and great grandchildren, was beloved. She was full of life and her wonderful smile and welcoming presence made all feel at home. Mamie stories could entertain visitors for hours, and if you were lucky, you might get her to sing a bit. She made friends easily and remained lifelong friends with folks from her childhood in South Boston and the telephone company. She was a 2nd Mom to several of her childhood friend’s children and grandchildren. Mamie provided an incredible example of how to love and care for others.
She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers Club, The Castle Island Association, and South Boston Irish American Club.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visitation on Saturday December 13th from 9:30-10:30 AM in St. Clare’s Church, 1244 Liberty Street, Braintree, prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Claire’s Church- Braintree, at 10:30 AM. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the South Boston Special Kids, P.O. Box 27073, So. Boston, MA 02127 or Mary Ann Brett Food Pantry, c/o St. Teresa of Calcutta Church, 73 Roseclair St., Dorchester, MA 02125.
