Obituary

Listen to Obituary

Maloney, Ann M. (Patterson) of Braintree, passed away surrounded by her loving family at South Shore Hospital on June 18, 2026.

Ann was a loving, kind, and funny woman whose life was centered on family, friendship, and the simple joys of everyday living. Ann was deeply devoted to the people she loved most. She was all about family, and nothing brought her greater happiness than spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She adored her grand kids and great-grand kids and treasured every moment she had with them. Her quiet nature was often paired with a wonderful sense of humor, and those who knew her best appreciated the warmth and laughter she brought into their lives. She had a gentle presence that made others feel welcome, and her love for her family was evident in everything she did.

Ann was married for 61 years to the late Thomas A. Maloney, a testament to a lifelong partnership built on love, commitment, and shared memories. Throughout her life, she remained devoted to the home and family she helped build. She lived in Jamaica Plain before making Braintree her home for about five decades, where she became a familiar and cherished part of the community. Her life in Braintree reflected the steady, caring spirit that defined her, and she formed lasting connections with those around her. In her free time, Ann enjoyed sitting on the porch and people watching and enjoying her proximity to the beach. She was also proud to be part of the Red Hat Society and the Braintree Women’s Club, where she enjoyed companionship, conversation, and the fellowship of other women. Ann also worked for about 50 years, beginning her career at Jordan Marsh and later continuing at Macy’s. Her long years of employment reflected her strong work ethic, reliability, and dedication.

Ann will be remembered most for the love she gave so freely, the kindness she showed to others, and the humor that brightened the lives of those around her. She lived a life marked by devotion, steadiness, and grace. Her family and friends will forever hold close the memories of her loving heart, her quiet wit, and the many ways she made life better simply by being part of it. The family of Ann Maloney wants to extend their sincerer gratitude to the kind workers at Southwood Nursing Home in Norwell who took such great care during her time there.

Predeceased by her late husband Thomas A. Maloney. Loving mother to Thomas J. Maloney and his wife Michele of Hingham, Mariann Maloney of Milford, and Kathleen Williamson and her husband Thomas of Milford. Nana to Nicholas Gifford and his husband Jeremy, Thomas Williamson and his wife Julie, Abigail Maloney, Kayla Williamson, and Alyssa Williamson. Great grandmother to Jay Gifford, Claire Williamson and Tommy Williamson. Sister to Joseph Patterson and his late wife Jean, Matthew Patterson and his late wife Pauline, and the late John Patterson and his late wife Anne Marie. Also survived by many extended family and friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Tuesday, June 23 from 4-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home South Weymouth at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. South Shore Hospital). A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Wednesday, June 24 prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Braintree at 10 AM.
