Ann Rice passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born to John and Anna Jacobus, Ann was the oldest of nine children. She grew up in South Boston before moving from Dorchester to Weymouth in 1963. She carried the values of family, hard work, and kindness throughout her life—traits that defined her and inspired those around her.
Ann spent several years working in various positions as an administrative assistant before retiring in 1998. Her dedication and professionalism were matched only by her warmth and compassion for others.
A lifelong learner and avid reader, Ann found joy and comfort in books.
Ann’s greatest joy was caring for her family. She and her husband cherished many weekends and vacations together at their summer home on Nippo Lake, where they made countless happy memories with loved ones.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 72 years, Kenneth Rice Sr.; two sons, Kenneth Rice Jr. (Melissa) of Hobe Sound, Florida, and Richard Rice (Janet) of Kingston; and was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Diane Rice. Ann is also survived by her sister, Carol Donovan of Florida; 5 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren, who brought her endless joy.
Ann will be remembered for her warmth, devotion to family, love of reading, and the kindness she shared so freely with everyone whose lives she touched.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, November 5, at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church Weymouth , followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Graveside services to follow at Village Cemetery in Weymouth.
