Ann Marie "Nancy" (Shea) Tangney

Ann “Nancy” (Shea) Tangney, of North Weymouth, died peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, July 24, 2025. She was 87.

Ann was born in Boston on September 3, 1937, and was the daughter of the late Gerald and Anna (Kerr) Shea.

Ann was the beloved wife of the late James A. Tangney, who died in 2015. She was the devoted mother of Kristina Tavares and her husband Michael of Weymouth, Nancy Tangney of Quincy, and Kathleen Scheer and her husband Michael of Braintree. Ann was the loving grandmother of Scott Tavares of Weymouth, and Amanda and Michaela Scheer of Braintree. She was the dear sister of the late Patricia (Shea) Ridlen and her late husband Robert, and the late Gerald Shea and his wife Ann of Quincy. She was the dear sister-in-law of Paul Tangney and his wife Rita of Marshfield, and Patricia Tangney of Quincy. Cherished friend of the late Ann Hunt. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Ann, a remarkable woman whose warmth, wit, and unwavering devotion to her family left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Ann was a woman of many beautiful contradictions—strong yet full of grace, sassy yet deeply loving, quick-witted with a sarcasm that could make anyone laugh, and a heart as big as her sweet tooth. She had a deep love for life’s simple pleasures—reading a good book, cheering on her beloved Red Sox, going out to lunch with friends or family, and savoring a scoop (or two) of her favorite ice cream.

Above all, Ann found her greatest joy in being with her children and grandchildren. A dedicated and loving Mother, Nana, and Nannie Annie, she never missed a chance to make memories, whether through a thoughtful gesture, sharing one of her many anecdotes, or simply being present with open arms and a warm heart. She was the epitome of a selfless “super mom”—fiercely proud, endlessly supportive, and the creator of magical holidays and summer vacations that her children and grandchildren will never forget.

Ann took great pride in her professional life as well, especially her prior position as Executive Assistant to the Head of Orthopedics at Mass General Hospital, a role she held with integrity, diligence, and pride.

Her legacy is one of laughter, love, strength, and spirit. Ann leaves behind a family who adored her, friends who cherished her, and a world that is undoubtedly better for having had her in it.

She will be missed beyond words but remembered with every Red Sox game watched, every sweet treat enjoyed, and every loving moment shared in her honor.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A - Bicknell Square).

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Jerome Church, Weymouth at 10:30 AM. Cremation will follow.

Ann will be interred privately in Fairmount Cemetery, Weymouth at a later date.
