Anna M. (Roche) Campbell, of Weymouth, died peacefully on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Windrose at Weymouth. She was 98.
Anna was born in Boston on November 1, 1926, and was the daughter of the late Patrick and Ellen (Holmes) Roche.
Anna was a beloved friend, vibrant spirit, and joyful soul, who left this world just as she lived in it, with a smile, a kind word, and probably a piece of chocolate nearby.
Anna had a true zest for life. She loved to eat, not just for the food, but because every meal was a chance to gather, laugh, and connect. She found joy in luncheons, especially with friends, where stories were shared, memories made, and every dish came with a side of laughter. After retirement, she took it upon herself to be the designated driver for her group of lunch buddies, always the one to pick everyone up, making sure there was always an umbrella for every seat.
Anna spent many years working as a receptionist for The Bank of Boston, where her friendly voice and warm smile greeted countless clients and coworkers. She brought the same energy to her job that she brought to every part of her life, upbeat, engaging, and always ready with a kind word. Her natural gift for conversation and her interest in people made her a beloved presence at the bank and a trusted, welcoming face for all who walked through the doors.
The color pink matched Anna’s spirit: warm, bright, and full of life. She was the kind of person who filled a room simply by walking into it, outgoing, funny, curious about others, and never short on compliments. Whether you were a lifelong friend or someone she just met in line at the store, Anna had a way of making you feel seen and special. She loved to talk, but more importantly, she truly loved people.
Her positive outlook was contagious. Anna made friends everywhere she went, from the neighborhood bowling league to her regular card games. She loved the friendly competition but loved the camaraderie even more.
Anna lived fully, loved freely, and left everyone better than she found them. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit lives on in every shared story, every warm smile, and every joyful lunch with friends.
Anna was the beloved wife of the late William J. Campbell, who died in 1986. She was the devoted mother of James M. Campbell of Weymouth, Paul F. Campbell of Weymouth, Ellen M. Zalinski and her husband Robert of Foxborough, Laurie Jean Campbell and her husband Brian of Longmont, CO, Kathy O’Brien and her husband Edward of Whitman, and the late William Campbell. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Kathleen Esenhart, John “Jack” Roche, and Patrick Roche. Anna was the loving grandmother of ten and the loving great grandmother of fourteen. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, from 9:30-11:30 AM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte. 18 opp. South Shore Hospital).
