Anthony Frank Barbuto of Hingham died on June 17, 2025. The beloved husband of 65 years to Elizabeth “Betty” Barbuto. Loving father of Frank Barbuto of Hanover, John Barbuto and his wife Bridget of Hingham, Mary Nagle and her husband Christopher of Abington, and Peter Barbuto and his wife Debbie of Bedford, New Hampshire. Son of the late Antonio & Maria (Gulla) Barbuto. Brother of the late Joseph Barbuto and Ann Bearse. Cherished grandfather of Allyson, Erin, Alexander, Jennifer, Vinny and Olivia.
Anthony “Tony” was born in Palermiti, Calabria, Italy. At just five years old, he and his family made the courageous journey to the United States, where they settled in Hingham. It was there that Tony grew up, went to school, and learned the values that would shape his entire life—discipline, perseverance, and quiet strength. As a teenager, he worked at Paragon Park and loved to retell stories of the park over and over. Tony and Elizabeth “Betty” were married in 1959, coming up on celebrating 66 years this June.
He served his country with honor as a veteran, and afterward, pursued his passion for technology. He earned an Associate’s Degree in Electronic Engineering. He built a long, fulfilling career at Grass Instruments for 40 years, where the first EKG machines were manufactured.
Tony could fix almost anything, radios or leaky faucets, lawnmowers, you name it. If something was broken, he would somehow figured it out. He was a "Jack of all trades," he proudly passed on this extensive knowledge to his children which they now share with their own children.
Tony’s real joy was making wine, tending to his garden, or building something in his cellar.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Monday, June 23, 2025 from 3-7 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at 10am prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Parish in St. Ann’s Church, Hull at 11am. Burial in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Tony may be made to Hingham Elder Services, 224 Central Street, Hingham, MA 02043
