Barbara Ann Barry

Barbara Ann Barry of Hingham, formerly of Hanover and Quincy, passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2025. She was 94.

She was born in Boston to Helen (Murphy) and Robert Laneau and raised in Dorchester. After graduating high school, she worked at Boston Edison until her and her husband, Robert M. Barry started a family. They had two boys and 57 wonderful years together. When the kids had grown, Barbara went back to work as a bank clerk.

Barbara was quite the artist, and her passion and creativity could be found in the multiple mediums she worked in. She was an avid painter working with oils, pastels, watercolor. She found peace in making art and in traveling to her cottage at Newfound Lake in NH. She would spend summers there and spent most of her time in the water swimming. When she was ashore, she tended to her garden, frequented the shops and tore up the dance floor.

She was fiercely independent and strong. Barbara lived her life by her own terms and enjoyed every minute of her 94 years. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Beloved wife of 57 years to the late Robert M. Barry. Devoted mother to Richard Barry and his wife Karen of Plymouth and Paul Barry and his wife Lynn of Pelham, NH. Adoring grandmother to Megan Barry and Colleen Barry and her fiancé William Fox. Loving sister to the late Paul Laneau. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Wednesday May 21, 2025, from 11 AM-12 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. Funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at 12 PM in Keohane Funeral Home, Quincy. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Barbara may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
