Iacovelli, Barbara J. (Ekvall) of Hingham, originally NY, died May 23, 2026.

Barbara grew up in Brooklyn and Long Island and lived for over 35 years in Roslyn, NY where she and her husband Joseph raised their family. She graduated from Keuka College. She was a dedicated registered nurse and met Joseph when they both worked at St. Luke’s Hospital in Manhattan, her as an RN and him as an anesthesiologist. Barbara took a sabbatical from nursing to raise her son William and then went back to work at Mercy Hospital in Long Island. After her husband passed, she moved to Milford, MA and eventually settled in Hingham to be closer to her sister Janet at Linden Ponds. Her family was important to her, especially her son. When she lived in Milford, she especially enjoyed her to trips to Summit NJ where she was able to see her grandkids and be able to see them participate in their activities. Also, prior to Linden Ponds, she cherished 4th of July holidays at her sister's house in Hopkinton, MA where she was able to spend time with her grandkids, nephews and nieces. She loved music, singing in church choirs growing up and becoming part of a music group in the 1980's and 1990's that traveled the world. She also loved art and taking classes over the years. Barbara had a special spot in her heart for animals and donated to various charities. On the sports front, she loved sports growing up as a child and became a NY Jets season ticketholder with her husband in the 1960's through the 1990's. She was able to see a championship in 1969 which she talked about for years. In addition, when raising her family, one of her special places was Hilton Head Island in SC. She was an independent and unique woman who moved to the beat of her own drum. She will be greatly missed.

Beloved wife of the late Joseph Iacovelli. Cherished mother of William Iacovelli and his wife Kelly of Summit, NJ. Devoted sister of Janet Colson of Hingham, MA. Loving grandmother to Abigail, William Jr., and Timothy Iacovelli. Aunt to 4 nieces and nephews.
