Barbara Marie Laitinen

Barbara Marie (Meade) Laitinen of Quincy, passed away peacefully at home September 18, 2024, after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family during her final moments. Born on June 27, 1938, in Boston.

Barbara was a devoted mother, wife and friend whose strength, compassion and unwavering love touched everyone who knew her. Throughout her life, she faced challenges with grace, especially during her illness, never losing her fun positive spirit and deep concern for others.

Daughter of the late Alice and William Meade. Married to Thomas Laitinen for 62 years. Mother of Nancy McPartlin of Rockland and her husband Sean. Mother of Linda Brundage of Abington and her husband Dan. Mother Of Kevin Laitinen. Predeceased by daughter Joan Laitinen. Sister of Nancy Parrish of Quincy. Sister-in-law of John and Helen Laitinen of Rockland. Aunt to her beautiful niece Kathy Parrish of Quincy. 

Nana of Alex Laitinen, Michael Lyons, Jessica Brundage, Sydney Brundage, Lacey Brundage, Mary McPartlin and Katie McPartlin 

Barbara was life long resident of Quincy, graduating from Quincy High School in 1955. She went on to meet her loving husband, Tom, at the Lithuanian dance club in Brockton. They went on to married on May 6, 1962. Tom and Barbara enjoyed spending their vacations in Nassau and other Caribbean islands.

The family would like to thank Old Colony Hospice and the “neighborhood girls” for all their extra love and support.

In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Dana Faber Cancer Institute in memory of Barbara.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Tuesday September 24th from 4-7 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM.
