Listen to Obituary

Barbara Ann Meschino, née Fahey, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was 84 years old.

Born on October 30, 1941, Barbara lived most of her life in Hull, Massachusetts.

She graduated from Hull High School and the Faulkner Hospital School of Nursing.

Barbara’s calling was nursing, through which she shared her gift of compassion. She worked as the school nurse at the Lillian M. Jacobs Elementary School in Hull for many years. Whether a student had a serious medical condition, a scraped knee during recess, or just needed a hug to get through the school day, Barbara cared for all of her “little customers”. Everywhere she went in Hull, she was greeted warmly by generations of students. Barbara inspired more than a few students to pursue the medical profession.

Barbara married the love of her life, John Meschino, in 1963. It was love at first sight when Barbara walked into The Rathskeller in Boston, where John worked during college. John and Barbara recently celebrated 62 years of marriage. Together, Barbara and John raised four children: Joan, Jill, John, and Eric.

As her soulmate, John passed away four days after Barbara on February 2nd, 2026.

A fixture at the end of “S” Street, Barbara always had an eye to the horizon watching for tankers coming into port, airplanes arriving to Logan, and especially the Triple J-BE returning to Windemere Harbor.

In her later years, Barbara spent many an afternoon with John at the Hull Gut waiting for their son, Eric, to come into port on his lobster boat, the Jake and Josephine.

Barbara is survived by her four children: Joan Meschino (John Harre), Jill Marie Meschino (Dillon Remler), John Joseph Meschino (Amy Parkes Meschino) and Eric John Meschino (Jessica Mitchell Meschino). Barbara was affectionately called “Nani Dude Woman” by her five adoring grandchildren: Kathryn Rose Meschino, Lillian Amrhein Remler, Joseph Francis Meschino, Emma Joan Meschino, and Robert John Meschino.

One of six children, Barbara is also survived by her sister Ellen Belmarsh (James Belmarsh) and brothers Brian Fahey (Elaine Fahey), and Bruce Fahey (Barbara Fahey), as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Barbara was predeceased by her beloved parents, Francis Joseph and Pauline Estelle Fahey, her brother Robert Fahey, and her sister Brenda Risio.

A joint wake for both Barbara and John Meschino will be held on Monday, February 9th, 4:00PM-8:00PM at Pyne Keohane in Hingham. A joint funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday, February 10th, at 11:00AM at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Hull. A private burial will be held at a later date.
