Barbara L. Nicholson

Barbara L. Nicholson, 80, died October 16, 2025 after a lengthy illness in Weymouth, MA.

Barbara graduated from Most Holy Rosary High School and LeMoyne College in Syracuse, NY. She received her LICSW at Syracuse University and awarded a Ph.D. from Smith College.

Barbara taught as an Assistant Professor at the Boston College Graduate School of Social Work and as a Full Professor at the Salem State Graduate School of Social Work. She also had a private practice in Brookline, MA for many years.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald Matross of Weymouth, MA, sisters Mary Ann Rogers of VA, Dorothy Nicholson of Las Vegas, NV, Janet Graves of Rochester NY, and brother William Nicholson of AR.

Services are private.
