Becky (Rebecca) Jacobs passed away on August 13, 2026, in Weymouth, Massachusetts after a prolonged battle with multiple cancers. She was born on May 3, 1957, in Sheffield Lake, Ohio.
Becky built a life marked by devotion to her family, dedication to her work, and enjoyment of the many things that brought her happiness. She attended Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, from 1975 to 1979, earning a Bachelor’s of Education. Early in her career, she worked as a school librarian for three years before taking accounting courses at the Ohio State University in Columbus. In 1983, she became a Certified Public Accountant in Ohio and later in California, going on to spend about 30 years in that profession. She also devoted ten years as a stay-at-home mother, a role that reflected the care and commitment she gave to her family.
Over the years, Becky lived in Columbus, Ohio; Vista, Danville, and Alamo, California; Newport, Rhode Island, and Hingham, Massachusetts. California held a special place in her heart, especially San Francisco. She often attended tea tastings and purchased unique items in Chinatown, enjoyed the restaurants of North Beach and the Embarcadero, and loved going to San Francisco Giants games at McCovey Cove with her family. Throughout her life she found joy in flowers, butterflies, gardening, traveling, live music, buttery chardonnays, fashion, baking, home decorating, watching hummingbirds and other animals in the yard, and spending time with her beloved labradoodle Charlie. These simple and beautiful pleasures reflected her warmth, kindness, curiosity, and appreciation for the world around her.
Becky is survived by her husband, Bill Jacobs of Hingham, Massachusetts, and by their sons, Collin Jacobs of Boston and Josh Jacobs of Swampscott. She is also survived by her sisters, Lori DeMonia of Oxford, Pennsylvania, and Lynn Mey of North East, Maryland, as well as her brothers, Eric Carlsen of Belpre, Ohio, Robert Carlsen of Vincent, Ohio, and Rudy Carlsen of Sayre, Pennsylvania. She will be remembered with love by her family and by all who shared in her life.
Visitation will be held on September 1, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald Street, Hingham, Massachusetts. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home with a livestream available at (link).
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute or the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance.
