Bernard “Bernie” A. Doyle, Jr., BPD, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024, at the age of 54. He was the son of Ruth (McStravick) Almeida-Doyle of Dorchester and the late Bernard A. Doyle, Sr. BPD. Bernie was the cherished father of Regan, Kerri, and Jillian Doyle, all of Dorchester, whom he lovingly raised with their mother, Julie (Neimann) Doyle. He was the beloved partner of April McGann of Quincy. Bernie is survived by his brothers, Chuck Doyle of Dorchester, and Michael Doyle and his wife Cindy of Sharon and South Carolina. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Bernie’s life story epitomizes his unwavering commitment to service and deep love for his family. After graduating from Don Bosco High School in 1987, he embarked on a journey of public service by joining the Boston Police Department as a Cadet. In March of 1994, he proudly graduated from the Boston Police Department Academy as a Patrolman, displaying his dedication to both learning and serving his community. Bernie’s career spanned various assignments, from his initial post at B3 in Mattapan to his final assignment at E18 in Hyde Park. Despite the challenges posed by his profession, Bernie discovered solace and renewal amidst the tranquil settings of Maine’s lakeside, providing a balance between his professional obligations and personal well-being. Bernie’s affection for Maine’s lakeside began from his childhood summers spent at his family’s cottage, where he enjoyed catching frogs, swimming, joining in family gatherings, and engaging in all kinds of mischief with his brothers. As a devoted dad, he always found joy in making his children laugh, whether it was with his silly jokes or playful antics. His children were his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He would beam with pride when speaking of his children. Bernie will surely be remembered fondly by those who knew him for his quick wit, sense of humor, distinctive style of donning Hawaiian shirts atop his uniform and his infectious smile.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Monday, June 3rd from 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY.
