Bryce A. Grefe, passed away peacefully at home on January 22, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by love, comfort, and peace. Bryce was born on August 1, 1949, in Fairmont, Minnesota, and lived a life defined by adventure, intellect, generosity, and deep personal connections.

Bryce proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged from active duty in 1973, a service he always regarded with quiet pride. Following his military service, he graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Engineering, laying the foundation for a remarkable professional life.

He went on to become the former CEO of Planet Self Storage and was a long-time leader in the self-storage industry. An accomplished real estate entrepreneur, Bryce was known for his sharp mind, vision, and integrity. He was immensely proud of the life he built and especially of his home in North Weymouth, Massachusetts, overlooking the Back River, complete with a dock that brought him endless joy.

Bryce had a deep love for sailing and was rarely happier than when out on the water. He kept his beloved 42 -foot  Hunter sailboat  “ Spellbinder” in the Back River, which became the setting for some of his favorite moments. He also adored his Chocolate Labrador Retrievers, who were constant companions. A true world traveler, Bryce loved fine dining and great wine, often joking, “Ask me where I haven’t been.” His curiosity about the world never faded.

Above all, Bryce treasured friendship. His friends were everything to him, and he was known as a loyal, thoughtful, and generous presence in their lives. He was smart, loving, intellectual, and genuinely kind, with an easygoing nature and a wonderful sense of humor that made people feel instantly at ease.

He is lovingly remembered by his brother Mark Grefe and wife Sandy; his in laws Nancy Griffin and Thomas Griffin, as well as many nieces and nephews, and close friends across the country and around the world.
