Obituary

Listen to Obituary

Klumpp, Carl A. of Quincy, passed away peacefully at his home on July 20, 2026.

Carl grew up in "Southie" and was always so proud of his roots. He graduated from English High School in 1951 and Northeastern University in 1971. He grew up playing basketball and lead his high school team to the City Championship. Carl was also a talented baseball player and was inducted into the Park League Hall of Fame. He was even scouted by the New York Yankees. Carl's unique career started at Walter Baker Chocolate which then lead him to The Gillette Company where he became the Chief Perfumer. Carl was a lifetime member of the South Boston Yacht Club and oldest member of the Boston Golf Club in Hingham. He was an avid golfer and was known as America’s Guest, which afforded him the ability to play at several prestigious golf courses throughout the world. Carl never missed playing cards on Tuesdays at the yacht club with the boys and rarely passed up an opportunity to play Rummikub against his girls. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, boating, trips to the beach and traveling, especially to Naples, Florida. He was a fierce competitor who had a quick wit, but was always down to earth. He was famous for his one liners. You knew he loved you if you fell victim to those. He will be missed terribly.

Beloved husband of 58 years to the late Alice C. Klumpp. Loving father of Barbara Klumpp of Worcester, Laura Klumpp of Hull, Christina Klumpp of Framingham, Paula Crowley and her husband Gene of Middleboro, and Carolyn Klumpp of the Netherlands. Devoted grandfather of Sarah and Jonathan Butler, Amy Coy, Sean, Matthew, Samantha, Timothy, and Allison Crowley and Oscar and Orson Oosting. Cherished brother of Barbara Fitzgerald of St. Cloud, FL and the late Paul Klumpp. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Thursday, 7/30/2026, from 10-11 AM at St. Agatha’s Church, Milton, followed by the Funeral Mass at 11 AM. Burial at Cedar Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Carl may be made to the South Boston Special Kids and Young Adults, PO Box 270731, South Boston, MA 02127 or to Schultz’s Guest House, 13 Burgess Ln., Dedham, MA 02026.
