Leahy, Carol Ann (Neenan) of Middleboro, formerly of South Boston and Weymouth, passed away surrounded by family and friends on December 3, 2025. She was 80 years old.
Born and raised in spirited South Boston to Leo and Margaret (Logan) Neenan, Carol's early years centered around the home on G Street, a bustling hub for her family of eight siblings, especially during parade seasons, which were a highlight of her childhood.
In 1972, Carol laid down roots in Weymouth where she stayed for the next 45 years. Her home was often filled with the joyful noise of children playing, as she loved watching her kids and later her grandchildren in their various sports, celebrating their victories and soothing their defeats with equal affection. Carol's heart was incredibly expansive, and nothing brought her more joy than the hustle and bustle of a lively household.
Professionally, Carol dedicated her working years as a secretary administrative assistant at Liberty Mutual, where her friendly disposition and dependable work ethic shone through. Her colleagues knew her as an integral part of the office, someone who could always be relied upon to complete the tasks others hesitated to take on, much like she did within her home.
It was over 50 years ago that In God’s providence, Carol met William—the love of her life and her lifelong companion. Together, they navigated the ups and downs of life, demonstrating a partnership that stood the test of time. Carol's nurturing nature extended to her devotion as a wife, seamlessly blending the roles of confidante, caregiver, and best friend.
After decades in Weymouth, Carol embraced the change that came with moving to Middleboro in 2017. Despite downsizing, she never reduced the size of her immense heart nor the reach of her love. Carol also had a passion for yard work, particularly moving flowers around to see them flourish in new environments a testament to her belief in the potential for beauty and growth in change.
Loving, kind, and friendly these words encapsulate the essence of Carol Ann Leahy. Her willingness to do the necessary, unseen tasks that a mother endures, her delightful sense of humor, and her boundless love combined to create a woman who was the cornerstone of her family. She leaves behind joyful memories, a model of caring for others, and a garden in both a literal and metaphorical sense that will continue to bloom for years to come. Carol's warm presence will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, but her spirit will live on through the acts of kindness she instilled in her family and the community she cherished.
Carol was the love of my life – Billy.
