McLaughlin, Carol Ann of Quincy, born December 12, 1947 and died January 30, 2026.
Carol was an unbelievable wordsmith, regularly doing the NY Times crosswords and designed a few of her own in hopes to one day have them published, and was also allegedly undefeated at Scrabble. She had a love of books, closely following the news, current events, Jeopardy, and cooking. She traveled in her younger years, living in Okinawa, Japan and Washington D.C. She also visited Ireland, many European cities and Morrocco. Carol was dedicated to her career as a registered nurse. One of her most memorable jobs was as an RN at the psychiatric ward at Sibley Hospital in D.C. during the Regan administration. In her 20s, she was one of the youngest head nurses at Carney Hospital. She spent many years at Blue Cross Blue Shield where she developed lifelong friendships with MaryJean Crockett, Kristine Dement and many others. Her latest job was working as a case manager for Genex helping injured workers recover and return to work. Carol joined her husband often on his radio show “Pontificating with Paul and the Proletariat,” known as “The Lovely Carol McLaughlin of the Quincy McLaughlin’s” where her wide range of knowledge, class, wit, and humor was on display. Though she didn’t have any children of her own, she was so proud of her cousin’s children and grandchildren. She was generous, supportive, and always ready to laugh. Carol was an intelligent, caring, calm and down to earth woman who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Lou (Newcomb) McLaughlin. Beloved wife of Paul G. Healy of Quincy. Survived by many dear cousins and their children.
