Carol Anderson Schram

Carol (Lorraine) Anderson Schram, 78, of Hingham, MA, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife and best friend of Ronald Byard Schram (Ron) for 53 years prior to his passing on February 9, 2023.

Carol is survived by her daughter Laura (Schram) Page and husband Eric of Norwell, MA, their children Skylar and Sydney, and daughter Alison (Schram) Baldwin and husband Tim of Hingham, MA, and their children Caroline, Emily, Julia and Will. She is also survived by her older sister Linda Mary (Anderson) Meehan of Hadley, MA, and her children Dennis and Brian and her beloved nurse, caretaker and “adopted” daughter Tammy Krause of Braintree, MA, and her husband Michael.

Carol was born on November 4, 1946, in Stoneham, MA to the late Mary Madeline (Byrne) Anderson and Arthur Frederick Anderson. The Andersons moved to Darien, CT in 1957 when Carol was 11 years old. She graduated from Darien High School in 1964 and was remembered in her high school yearbook as being an “outspoken theorist with blue eyed candor” and as being a “stately sophisticate”. She went on to attend the University of Michigan, earning a degree in English in 1968. She and Ron met on a blind date over “peanuts and a beer” after a mutual friend thought they would be perfect together. Ron called his Mom on the way home to tell her he met the woman he was going to marry. After three months of dating, Ron proposed to Carol by traveling to Sweden to surprise her while on her college graduation trip with her parents. They were married on July 19, 1969 the day before the first successful manned moon landing by NASA’s Apollo 11 mission. Carol taught in the Brookline Public School system for three years before moving to Hingham, where she and Ron resided for over 50 years.

Carol valued her family and friends and helped and supported many along the way with her loyalty, humor and insightful wisdom. She loved her family vacations in Cape Cod (Chatham), New Hampshire (Eastman), Florida (Longboat Key, Vero Beach/John’s Island), and special cruise trips to Alaska, Caribbean, Scandinavia, and Europe. She was greatly involved in numerous volunteer and charitable activities including Junior League, Garden Club, Channel 2 Auction, and the MS Society. As a younger mother, she enjoyed tennis and Bridge group with friends and with Ron. In their retirement years, she learned Mahjong with Ron and they spent many hours at antique stores looking for special treasures. Carol had an amazing sense of fashion and design and loved colorful furnishings. Never one to pass up an opportunity to chat, Carol made friends everywhere she went. With her outgoing demeanor and sassy quick wit, she left those around her smiling, and occasionally laughing so hard they cried.

A Celebration of Life service will be held in her honor at Hingham Congregational Church on Saturday, November 29th at 11am with a reception to follow.
