Catherine M. Harper of Quincy passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on February 4, 1944, to the late Joseph and Deborah McGrath, Catherine's life was a testament to the power of kindness and the strength of family bonds.
Catherine, affectionately known as Cathie to her friends, was a cherished wife to John J. Harper, Jr., for 18 wonderful years. She was a devoted mother to Elizabeth (Beth) Harper and her life partner Mike Gallant of Hanover, Gregory Harper and his wife Paula of Wareham, and Jennifer Farrell and her husband Marc of Fallbrook, CA. Her role as Nana to her eight grandchildren—Shana, Taylor, Lauren, Cory, Josh, Jacquelyn, Avery, and Jameson—was one she held dear to her heart.
Catherine's legacy is carried on by her loving sister, Maureen Cabradilla of Wareham, and a host of nieces and nephews who will miss her warmth and guidance. She was predeceased by her siblings Deborah, Joe, Emily, Billy, and Anne and her long time companion, George Chopourian.
A Brighton native and a longtime resident of Quincy since 1975, Catherine's life was one of service and faith. She was a devout Catholic and an active volunteer at Holy Trinity Parish. Catherine worked as a lead clerk at Brighton Municipal Court for 35 years, later moving her career to Milton Academy.
Always a social person, she always saw the best in everyone. Her interests were as varied as they were joyful. She was an avid ballroom dancer. She cherished the time spent visiting her grandchildren in California, ensuring that distance was no barrier to family connection. Above all, Catherine valued family time, creating countless cherished memories that her loved ones will hold close forever.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Tuesday 3/17/2026 from 9:00-11:00 AM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY.
