Catherine M. McMahon of the Wrentham Developmental Center, Wrentham, MA passed away peacefully at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro on October 3, 2026 with family and WDC staff by her side. She was 74 years old.

Born in Boston on November 28, 1951. She was the beloved daughter of the late Enid R. McMahon and the late John A. McMahon, Jr. Sister to Paula J. (McMahon) Freedman and husband Stanley of Mansfield. Brother to the late Kevin J. McMahon and wife Cherylee of Marshfield. Aunt to Jonathan J. Freedman of Mansfield. Cathy is also survived by extended family members.

At the age of two years old, Cathy was admitted to the Wrentham Developmental Center, as she was born with severe cognitive and intellectual disabilities related to cerebral palsy, which eventually required 24/7 monitoring and nursing care.

Cathy enjoyed listening to music, particularly The Beatles, watching the Hallmark Channel, using her iPad, attending community and special events, going to the Quinn Program Center, attending the Catholic Mass on Saturday afternoon with WDC residents, but most of all spending time with her Wrentham family.

Cathy was very special to so many people at Wrentham Developmental Center. Her big smile, bright blue eyes and feistiness will be remembered forever. Her spirit will remain with us. She will be missed deeply by her family and all those who loved and cared for her. May she rest in peace.

A private funeral service will be held at the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, Quincy followed by a private burial service at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Dorchester.

A memorial service will be held for Wrentham Developmental Center staff and residents at a later date.

The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the Wrentham Developmental Center Staff and medical team for their care and concern over Cathy's lifetime.
