Charles Hugh Cahill (Charlie) of Linden Ponds in Hingham, formally of Braintree and Quincy passed into the presence of Jesus on Saturday, June 13, 2026, surrounded by his cherished family. He was 95.
Born and raised in Portland, ME, Charlie graduated from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA in 1954 with a degree in business administration. He was a Veteran of the Korean War serving in the army. Charlie later met the love of his life, Joan Powers, and in 1962 they were married. They raised their four daughters in Quincy. Charlie retired from Gillette in 1992 after 35 years in sales and marketing management.
Charlie loved his family and planned many wonderful family vacations. He kept himself in great physical shape by running and faithfully working out at the gym. He was a member of the bowling and golf leagues at Gillette. He was also a member of Braintree golf club for many years. Charlie was an avid reader and loved listening to classical music. He and Joan travelled extensively and had many memorable trips together.
Family meant the world to him. He was very proud of his four daughters and the women they became. He was also a proud Grampa and just recently was overjoyed to meet his first great grand child. Charlie became a man of faith in his later years which became an important part of his life and brought him great joy. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Charlie was the devoted husband to the late Joan (Powers) Cahill for 60 years and the beloved father of Susan J. Williamson and her husband Robert of Maine, Lynn M. Cahill of Weymouth, Lauren J. Racine and her husband James of West Roxbury, Beth A. Solari and her husband Daniel of Hanover. He was blessed with 8 grandchildren; Alex Williamson and his wife Erika of Ohio, Lucy Foss and her husband Isaac of Maine, Gabriel, Victoria, and Jacqueline Racine of West Roxbury, Charles and James Solari of Hanover and the late Emma Williamson of Maine. He was great-Grampa to Rowen Foss. He was the son of the late Charles and Ruth (Westcott) Cahill of Portland, ME, the brother of the late Raymond Cahill, and Diane Hall of FL. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during visitation Monday July 6, 2026 from 9:30-11:00am at North River Church 334 Old Oak Street in Pembroke. His Celebration of Life service will immediately follow at 11:00am at the church. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in Charlie’s name to American Macular Degeneration Foundation, P.O Box 515, Northampton, MA. 01061-0515
