Charles G. Contos, Sr.

Charles (Leo) George Contos, 93, a longtime resident of Weymouth passed away peacefully on December 26 after a long illness.

He was born in 1932 to George and Virginia Contos. He grew up in Neponset and later worked with his father in their family restaurant on Neponset Circle.

In 1952, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his tour of duty on the U.S.S. Columbus. In 1956, his ship was involved in a collision at sea in the South China Sea. After his honorable discharge, he returned to work in the family business until its sale. He later worked with the State Parks System in Hingham. He then became a Law Enforcement Officer for the Massachusetts Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. While working for the MSPCA he earned his college degree in Law Enforcement at Northeastern University.

After retiring he spent time in boat sales in Hingham and Weymouth. He also enjoyed spending time at the casino with his grandson Tommy and his sister Martha.

He was predeceased by his wives Doris and Beverly. He is survived by his sister Martha Copoulos, sons Charles and his wife Susan, John and his wife Brenda; grandchildren Charles, Sara, Nicholas, Rebecca, Michelle, Thomas and his great granddaughter, Riley.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Friday 1/2/2026 from 11 AM- 2 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). A brief prayer service followed by Military Honors will be held at 1:30 PM. Burial will be held privately with family at a later date.
