Christopher Claude Demisch passed away at his home in Hull on April 9th, 2026.

Chris was born in Milan, Italy in October 1940 and spent his early years in Italy, France, and Germany before emigrating to Canada with his parents and siblings in 1954. Fascinated by airplanes at a young age, he earned an engineering degree from Queen’s University and then served in the Royal Canadian Air Force. His interest in aviation led him to a distinguished career on Wall Street, where he focused on aviation and aerospace industries. Throughout his life, he remained enthusiastic about flying, sailing, RVing, and eating seafood, particularly lobsters. He loved fixing things, while adding pointed critiques of the avoidable flaws in the underlying design. His varied stories were always a special part of family gatherings. He is preceded in death by his twin sister Roswitha (1952) and his former wife Valerie (2013). He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his children Robert and Carolyn, his grandchildren Will, Layla, and Valerie, and his siblings Robert and Wolfgang.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made in Chris’s memory to the Orca Conservancy (https://www.orcaconservancy.org/) for their ongoing support of Chris’s favorite sea mammal; South Shore Elder Services (https://sselder.org/) for their work helping senior citizens in the Hull area; or the Historic Sites Association of Newfoundland and Labrador (https://www.historicsites.ca/) for their work preserving Newfoundland’s history, including the memorable L’anse Aux Meadows Norse settlement that Chris and family visited and loved.
