Born in Boston to the late William and Agnes Trenholm, Claire was raised in Dorchester before making Weymouth her home for the past 66 years.

A devoted Catholic, Claire was an active and faithful member of Immaculate Conception Church in Weymouth. A deeply spiritual woman, she lived her life according to her Carmelite vows, allowing her faith to guide every aspect of her life. She developed a profound love for her Carmelite spiritual sisters, and the friendships she formed within her faith community were a source of great joy and strength. Claire was the beloved wife of the late William McAuliffe.

She was the loving mother of Robert McAuliffe of Weymouth, Diane Edwards and her husband, Kent, of Halifax and the late Paul McAuliffe and Kevin McAuliffe.

She was the cherished grandmother of Sarah Kingsley and her husband Brian of Pembroke, Marc Edwards of Milford, Jennifer Tolman and her husband Matthew, of Hanson, and Michael Edwards and his wife Stephanie of Achusnet.

She was also the proud great-grandmother of six great-grandchildren Taylor, Reide, Blake, Benjamin, Nathaniel, and Theodore.
