Cynthia S.
Sotrel
Mar 25, 1948 — Aug 27, 2026
Hull, MA
Saturday
Hull Village Cemetery
Starts at 10:30 am (Eastern time)
Cynthia S. Sotrel, a longtime resident of Hull, passed away at home on Thursday, August 27th. She was 78.
She was born in Boston to Martha (Watson) and Francis Curran and raised in North Quincy. After graduating from North Quincy High School, she went on to earn her bachelor’s and master’s in nursing from Northeastern University. Cynthia worked as a nurse for over 40 years, many of which were spent as the head of the operating room at Boston Medical Center. There she met Ginter Sotrel, a physician that she worked with and the two really got along. They later married in 1994 and lived in Hull for many years.
After Boston Medical Center, Cynthia earned the nursing manager position at Norwood Hospital where she worked until her retirement. Her dedication, intelligence and feisty disposition made her the perfect advocate for her patients and role model for the nurses and medical staff she worked with.
In her free time, she enjoyed a good martini, spending time by the ocean and spending time with family and friends. Cynthia was the life of the party. Her energy, fun spirit and beauty truly brightened every room she entered. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Beloved wife of 32 years to the late Ginter Sotrel. Devoted mother to Jayne Fitzgerald Nistad of Stoughton, Jillian Fitzgerald of Canton and stepmother to Ana Sotrel of Los Angeles, CA. Loving sister to William Curran and his wife Doreen of Plymouth. Adoring grandmother to Charlie Nistad. Also survived by nieces, Kristen Sheehan, Dayna Falla, Nicole Sullivan and nephew, Brett Curran.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the graveside services at 10:30 on Saturday, September 12th at Hull Village Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Cynthia’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society to help continue saving lives from breast cancer. Please see www.Keohane.com for directions and online condolences.
