Obituary

Listen to Obituary

Daniel “Danny” DeThomaso passed away peacefully on September 10th 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Danny will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 42 years, Maryanne DeThomaso; his daughters Danielle Bennett (Alex Bennett), Erin Girard (Mikey Cotter Jr.); cherished granddaughter Olivia Bennett; and brother Richard DeThomaso along with many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and best friends.

Danny enjoyed traveling with his beloved wife and friends of many decades. When home, he enjoyed enthusiastically playing with his granddaughter Olivia, spending time on the golf course with his many buddies and watching the Patriots and Red Sox. Danny is now reunited with his beloved dogs, Molly and Benji, who brought him so much joy and companionship throughout their lives. Summer was his favorite time of year, during which he would care for his yard and pool, fostering a warm and magnetic place for family and friends to gather.

Danny grew up in Quincy, Massachusetts with his parents Helen and Rocco DeThomaso. He was the youngest of five brothers, Nicholas DeThomaso; Dominic DeThomaso; Robert DeThomaso; and Richard DeThomaso. A family of barbers, the brothers worked at the well known and loved Rocco’s barber shop in Quincy.

At the age of 18, Danny proudly joined the United States Navy, where he served four years. During his service, he took great pride in serving as the barber for the captain aboard his ship, Albany.

Danny was a loving husband, devoted father, and proud papa who cherished the time he spent with people he loved most. The memories he created with them, the love he gave so freely, and the moments they shared will remain in their hearts forever. He is a man who will never be forgotten.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Monday 9/21/2026 from 4-7 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Funeral Mass will be held in the Sacred Heart Church, Weymouth on Tuesday 9/22/2026  at 10:30 AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
