Daniel J. Leary, age 77, of Hingham and formerly of Dorchester passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026.
He was born on February 20, 1949, to John and Mary (Larner) Leary in Boston, MA. Dan and his siblings were all raised in Dorchester and he went on to graduate from Boston English High School.
After graduating, he would go on to work for the U. S. Postal Service. Dan was a proud member of the Local 301 working for South Postal Annex for 42 years.
In his free time, he enjoyed driving around town, bowling, and spending time with his family. Dan had a passion for giving. He was known for his unique gifts and personalized birthday cards. During the holidays, Dan would help serve meals at Pine Street Inn or ringing bells for the Salvation Army. He believed in charity work and giving a helping hand to anyone in need. Dan was a major supporter and fundraiser of the Greene Scholarship fund. He was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus.
Dan was generous, one of a kind, and unforgettable. He was deeply loyal to his family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Dan is predeceased by his beloved parents, John and Mary Leary, as well as his brother Jack Leary.
He was the loving brother of Marian Duffy and her husband Jay of Milton, MA, Gerard Leary of Winthrop, MA. As well as his sister-in-law Ellen Leary, wife of the late Jack Leary. He was the adored uncle of Amy Chrisom and her husband Kevin of Milton, MA. Michael Leary of Weymouth, MA, John Duffy and his wife Katie of Pennsylvania, and Robert Leary and his wife Hilary Capay of New York. He is also survived and missed by many grandnieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Sunday August 2, 2026, from 4-7 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Monday August 3, 2026, prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Gregory's Church in Dorchester, MA at 10 AM. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Boston.
