Danuta A. Wisniewski of Quincy, died peacefully at home with her daughter and son-in-law on March 29, 2026.
The beloved wife of the late Walter J. Wisniewski of Quincy. Beloved Mother of Elizabeth Klocek and her husband Paul of Marlborough MA; sister of the late Zbigniew Turczyk and the late Zofia Kaminski; grandmother of Paulina Jondro and her fiancé Boston Bechtelheimer of FL; aunt of Zofia Kaminski of Quincy, Mark Wisniewski of Woburn, John and Richard Turczyk, Victor Kaminski, Teresa Mueller, Peter Kaminski, and Fred Kaminski.
Danuta was born in Warsaw, Poland... a Holocaust survivor... forced out of her home along with her mother and younger sister and transported by train into Germany where they spent almost 3 years in the Bergen Belsen concentration camp. One of her most vivid and enduring memories was the day the 'American soldiers' stormed into the camp to liberate them and the surviving prisoners. About 18 months later, through the efforts of the Red Cross, they were finally sponsored to come to the U.S., where they set up residence in Greenpoint, NY. It was while there that she met her future husband, Walter. She then moved to Boston, where they were married and where their daughter was born. One of her proudest moments was when she became a U.S. Citizen just before the birth of her daughter. Shortly thereafter, they purchased a home in Houghs Neck, Quincy, where they raised their only child, and remained residents up to the end.
Danuta, best known in and around Boston as 'Pani Danusia', was employed for many years at Reco Travel Agency and Sikorski Travel Agency. Her time was dedicated to assisting people mainly traveling to Poland, and that's where her true passion began. Being fluent in both Polish and English, she started helping people by translating necessary documents pertaining to asylum claims, applications for permanent residency, and ultimately becoming U.S. citizens. She took much pride in watching so many of her 'friends' take the oath.
Danuta led an amazing life filled with travel to many countries, which she enjoyed immensely. She will be missed by countless people... many of whom are eternally grateful for their present way of life here in the U.S. because of her efforts.
May Danuta Rest in Eternal Peace with God... Niech Spoczywa w Pokoju z Bogiem...
