David Andrew DiBona

David "Andy" DiBona, 54, of Quincy, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by the love of his family.

If you knew Dave, you knew his greatest joy was bringing people together—whether it was family on Rainsford Island, neighbors at Chowda Fest, friends at a Jimmy Buffett concert, or a young plumber just beginning a career in the trade. No matter where he was, Dave had a gift for making people feel welcome, valued, and part of something bigger than themselves.

Born in Quincy on June 6, 1972, Dave is survived by his loving wife, Teresa (Sheeley) DiBona; his cherished children, Gianna and David; his beloved parents, David T. DiBona and Kathleen N. (Welliver) Di Bona, and his beloved sister, Amy N. DiBona and many extended family members.
A lifelong Quincy resident, he was proud to call the city home. He graduated from Quincy Vocational Technical High School in 1991, where he discovered not only his trade but the foundation of a career that would become his life's work.

More than 25 years ago, Dave founded First Class Plumbing & Heating, earning a reputation as a respected Master Plumber whose name became synonymous with quality, honesty, and integrity. Dave generously volunteered his time teaching at Quincy Vocational Technical High School, hoping to inspire future plumbers, and regularly hosted continuing education classes for his employees because he believed learning never stopped.

His love for Quincy, and especially Hough's Neck, inspired years of community service. As President of the Hough's Neck Community Council, Dave dedicated countless hours to creating events that brought families and neighbors together. His favorite event was the annual Chowda Fest. Even while undergoing cancer treatment, Dave delighted in telling his doctors and nurses about the festival, enthusiastically inviting them to experience the community he loved so deeply.

In recognition of his years of service and dedication to Hough's Neck and the City of Quincy, Dave was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2026.

While his work and community involvement were remarkable, nothing meant more to Dave than his family. There was hardly a conversation that didn't include how proud he was of his children, how deeply he loved his family, and how important it was to him that they follow their dreams. Some of Dave's happiest days were spent aboard his beloved boat, Bubbles Up, making the trip to Rainsford Island. There, he delighted in sharing the cherished memories of his own childhood while helping create new traditions for his family. Those summers on the water became a reflection of who Dave was-joyful, adventurous, and happiest when surrounded by the people he loved.

A devoted Parrot Head, Dave shared countless Jimmy Buffett concerts and unforgettable adventures with his closest friends. Buffett's song "Bubbles Up," which inspired the name of his boat, held a special place in his heart. The lyric, "When you're lost and can't find your way, bubbles up, "became a message of hope that carried special meaning throughout his life and especially during his illness.

His legacy lives on in the family and friends he adored, the community he strengthened, and the countless lives he touched. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit will continue to guide those who loved him. As Dave found comfort in the words of Jimmy Buffett,
"When you're lost and can't find your way... bubbles
up."
