David Allen Hazen

David Allen Hazen, a longtime resident of Quincy, passed away peacefully after a valiant battle against cancer on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. He was 66.

He was born in Ware, MA to Evelyn (Hayes) and Walter Hazen and raised in West Brookfield. After graduating from Quaboag High School, he went on to earn his bachelor’s degree at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He then graduated with a master’s in mathematics from MIT. Dave always had a mind for numbers and was certainly playing to his strengths when he became a data analyst. He worked as a data analyst for 30 years most of which was with Engility. He also worked as a college math tutor for many years.

In his spare time, Dave was an active member of the United Methodist Church. He also enjoyed photography and studying astronomy. He was a quiet intellectual that had many talents, but he will be most remembered for his kindness and gentle disposition.

Beloved husband of 18 years to Janet Hazen (Wiedeman). Loving brother to Eva Herink and her husband Paul of NJ, Stuart Hazen and his wife Diane of CT, and John Hazen and his wife Lynn of FL. Also survived by his niece Corinne Kalet and her husband Eric of PA and his grand nephews, Mason and Ethan Kalet also of PA.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Service at the Quincy Community United Methodist Church on Saturday, September 20th at 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Dave’s name may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute’s Jimmy Fund.
