Retired City of Boston Fire Department District Chief

LeBrun, Jr., David B. of Abington, died peacefully surrounded by his family on March 8, 2026. He was 92 years old.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late David B. and Constance M. (Cornell) LeBrun.

Those who knew Dave knew that he was a quiet but extremely intelligent man. Everyone who knew him throughout his 92 years felt fortunate to have met such a wise and humble man. He was happily married to the love of his life, Dolly, whom he adored and he would strive to do whatever he could to make her happy! He was dearly loved by all of his large family; a beautiful family which he and Dolly created and nurtured over their 70 years of marriage. He treasured all of his friends, of which he had many over the years as Dolly and Dave always maintained an active social life well into their 90s.

He was proud of many accomplishments in his life, especially his time as a Marine during the Korean War as well as his 33 years on the Boston Fire Department. He worked and studied hard to advance his career on the Fire Department from Firefighter to District Chief. In his leisure time, Dave loved to play cards, especially his nightly Skip-Bo games with Dolly, for which there was a running score kept for many years. He enjoyed a good bourbon, as anyone that knew him would tell you. Other favorite pastimes included watching Jeopardy every evening, answering all the questions aloud, and forbidding anyone to talk during an episode! To know David LeBrun was an honor. He will be forever missed and fondly remembered by all of his friends and family.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the many healthcare workers both from Croi Health (formerly known as Norwell VNA) and the caring staff at South Shore Hospital Pratt South 5 who made his final transition comfortable and peaceful.

Loving husband of 70 years to Dolly (Ann) L. LeBrun of Abington. Cherished father to Denise Gibbons and her husband Leo of Leominster, Donna Rogers and her husband David of Rockland, Diane Corwin and her husband Paul of Wareham, Deborah Mallon and her husband David of East Hampstead NH, and Dorothea “Dot” Wheeler and her husband David of Waltham. Grandfather to nine grandchildren: Debbi-Ann Sebastian and her husband David, Juliann Kuja and her husband Dan, Ashley Kerwin and her husband Nick, Jennifer Banton and her husband Chris, Jessica Lussier and her husband Thom, Elizabeth “Biz” Campbell and her husband Garett, Anna Elliott and her husband Chris, Edward Gibbons and his wife Stephanie, David Wheeler Jr. and Great Grandfather to 21 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his grandchildren Brian Gibbons, Katie Clancy, Laurie Mallon, Timothy Gibbons as well as two great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his brothers Marshall LeBrun and Francis Edwards.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Monday, March 16, 2026 from 3-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So.
