Denis Cycan, age 55, resident of Abington, Mass. passed away on October 4, 2026. He is survived by his beloved wife, Bethany Anne Cycan (Wayne).

Denis is predeceased by his parents Konstanty and Barbara (Cycan) Vaughn of Port Washington, NY. He was the loving father to Frank, Nicolas and Gianna Cycan born of his first marriage. He is the adored brother to Emily Garofalo and her husband Jerry of Virginia, Elizabeth Meloni and her husband John of New York, Thomas Cycan and his wife Linda of Florida, Alan Cycan and his wife Kerrie of California, Steven Cycan and his wife Barbara of New York and Michael Cycan and his wife Elissa of New Jersey. He is also survived by many uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.

He was born on April 12, 1971, to Kostanty Cycan and Barbara Cycan (Walters) in Port Washington, NY. Denis grew up in Port Washington with his siblings until he moved to Breckinridge, Colorado at the age of 17 it is there where he worked as an EMT and graduated high school. After graduation, Denis found his way back to Port Washington where he was a volunteer firefighter.

In 2005, Denis relocated to Hanson, Massachusetts where he continued to work as a firefighter. Later in his life, Denis chose to return to school, and he received his bachelor’s degree in Property Management from Lesley University in Cambridge

In December of 2021, Denis met the love of his life Bethany Anne. They were married on 14 May 2024.

Denis loved a lot of things. He was particularly proud of the fact that his parents had to try seven times to finally produce the perfect child. Denis loved his New York sports teams. Regardless of where he was, he was immersed in the NY Jets, Mets, and Islanders sports franchises. Music spoke to Denis on a cellular level and the joy it brought him filled the room. He loved traveling, good bourbon, and telling a good dad joke. He had a particular gift for the dad's joke, delivered as if he had just thought of it himself. Denis loved a good nap and would sneak one in whenever he could. Most of all, Denis loved his family more than life itself. He gave everything of himself to ensure the happiness of everyone in his life.

To say Denis was a big man is an understatement. He would fill a doorway like an eclipse of the sun. His personality was bigger still. He was larger than life and commanded the room. The only thing bigger than his body and his effervescent and addictive personality was his heart. He loved bigger than anyone could. He gave all of himself to all of us. If you have ever spent a minute of your life with Denis, you have been changed for the better.

He always had something good or positive to say about everyone he knew. He would give the shirt off of his back to help his family, friends or a stranger he just met who was in need.

He was, by definition, a true gentleman, a devoted father and loving husband who is now and will always be deeply missed.

A Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, October 23, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Peter of Alcantara Church, 1327 Port Washington Blvd., Port Washington, NY 11050, followed by burial at Nassau Knolls Cemetery in Port Washington. A repast will follow at Flower Hill Hose Co. No. 1, 12 Haven Avenue, Port Washington.

His wife, Bethany Anne has requested that in lieu of flowers, please donate to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation in his name to honor Denis’s service as a firefighter. Donations can be sent via the T2T.org website.

Denis will be remembered for his joy, and for the simple fact that he wanted the people he loved to be happy. May he rest in peace.
