Diane M. Schneider passed away quietly in the early morning hours of March 1, 2026, in the loving presence of her devoted husband, Bill, at the age of 79. The two had been inseparable since they were 15 years old.
Born to Oswaldo and Florence (Falzone) Cingolani on December 12, 1946, in Quincy, MA, Diane and her brother James experienced tragedy early in life with the death of their father when she was just seven years old. Rather than diminish her spirit, that loss became a defining catalyst for what would grow into a lifelong calling; caring for family, friends, and anyone who needed an attentive ear. Throughout her life, adversity only sharpened her ability to meet each challenge with unmatched poise, grace, and humility.
As high school sweethearts coming of age during a time of political turbulence, moon landings, the draft, and Beatlemania, Diane and Bill built a life together through a marriage of 56 years and a family of their own. Before devoting herself to raising her children, Diane answered the call to care for the grandmother who had helped raise her following her father's untimely death. Years later, as son Stephen and daughter Kristin (Long) grew into adulthood, she gladly and without hesitation turned her boundless energy toward caring for her mother, who lived to the age of 94. Joy and strength flowed from the treasure trove of grandchildren who began making their way into her world, sometimes two at a time! Making and keeping family was her greatest lifetime achievement.
Along with her husband Bill, son Stephen, and daughter Kristin, she is survived by daughter-in-law Stephanie, son-in-law Jeffrey, and seven beloved grandsons: James, William, Charles, Edward, Stephen, Thomas, and Everett. We are all better people for having known her and been cared for by her.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during visiting hours on Tuesday, March 10th, from 4:00–6:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life service from 6:00–7:00 PM, at Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, Quincy, MA. All other services will be private.
