Diane Marie Swan MacGillivray, of Hanover, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on May 31, 2026.
Beloved daughter of the late Velma and John Swan.
Loving mother of Kayleigh A. MacGillivray of Hanover.
Sister of Maureen Swan and Joan Swan both of San Diego, CA, Chris Swan and his wife, Kathee of Braintree, and the late Jack Swan. Girlfriend of John Lumkin of Hanover. Former wife and close friend of Stephen MacGillivray of Haverhill.
Diane grew up in Dorchester and graduated from the Mass General School of Nursing. She was a devoted and well respected neonatal intensive care (NICU) nurse at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston where she worked for over 40 years. Caring for her tiny patients, their families, and working alongside her revered colleagues was the highlight of her life.
Diane was a lover of all dogs and rescued her adored Lola, Lolee, and Max. She was loved by many and was considered a second mother to more than a few of Kayleigh's friends.
Diane volunteered at the Hanover Senior Center in her later years and enjoyed the company of the many people she met and worked with. She enjoyed spending many summers in Maine and going out for nice dinners and watching Jeopardy with her girlfriends and boyfriend.
