Dino V.
Gigante
April 17, 1934 – May 5, 2026
Dino Vincent Gigante passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. He was 92 years old. Dino will be remembered dearly by his loved ones for his gentle presence, dry sense of humor, sharp wit, and dedication to his role as husband, father, and grandfather.
Dino was born on April 17, 1934, in Boston, Massachusetts, to his late parents, Rita (D'Angelosante) and Gabriel Gigante. One of four children, Dino was a beloved brother to his surviving brother, Anthony, and his late siblings, Joseph and Mary.
After graduating from Charlestown High School, Dino joined the Air Force and served honorably for four years from 1952-1956, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant and completing a yearlong tour to Korea during the Korean War. Upon returning, he married his lifelong love Doris (Cosgrove) on February 24, 1957. They were married for 69 years and share many happy memories, from routine daily outings to trips to the casino and cross country travels.
After serving his country, Dino worked as an electronics technician and marine electrician in the Boston and Quincy Naval Ship Yards for several years before getting a job in the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) as a compliance officer. While working his way up at OSHA, Dino earned his Bachelor of Science from the University Massachusetts, Boston, in 1982 followed by his Master of Business Administration from Anna Maria College in 1986. Dino was promoted to Area Director and then Assistant Regional Administrator at OSHA before retiring after nearly two decades, though he continued consulting for the administration.
Dino’s family looks fondly on his professional achievements, a testament to his intelligence, curiosity, and dedication to being a lifelong learner. Though it was in his retirement that he landed the ultimate job as grandfather, where he truly made a lifelong impact.
Dino leaves behind his loving wife Doris, who dedicated her life to caring for him, even into their 90s. He is also remembered by his daughters Donna Hall and her husband Michael, and Diane Dockery and her husband Timothy. He is the treasured “papa” of Chandler McLaughlin and her husband Ryan, Renée Dennison and her husband Christopher, Jake Hall, and Taylor Dockery, as well as great grandfather to Maverick and Layton McLaughlin.
Dino was laid to rest in Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on May 27, 2026.
